warthogs graze, wary
of hyenas and leopards.

killed by the unseen leopard
too soon in the spring.

Hungry elephant
eats dry trees at leisure;
marks us with her sly eye.

seeking refuge, mourn kinsmen

Females in estrus,
baboons mate, taking pleasure
in naked daylight.
